Start with the job
A useful agent starts with a clear understanding of the work it needs to complete.
Instead of writing a long system prompt, begin by clearly defining the desired outcome, the information the agent needs, the actions it can take, and where human judgment should remain part of the workflow.
A good starting description answers:
What should the agent accomplish?
Which systems does it need?
What actions can it take?
When should it ask for help?
Turn instructions into a workflow
Plain-language instructions are only the first layer.
Autonoma turns those instructions into structured tasks, tools, conditions, and escalation rules that define how the agent actually works.
This makes the workflow easier to review, test, maintain, and continuously improve than relying on one large prompt.
Add guardrails before autonomy
Not every action should happen automatically.
Sensitive decisions, high-value changes, and uncertain outcomes can require human approval before the workflow continues.
This lets teams start with tighter control and gradually expand autonomy as confidence grows.

Test the edge cases
A production agent needs to work when the happy path breaks.
Test the workflow with historical cases, unusual requests, missing information, conflicting data, and failed tool calls.
The goal is not only to prove that the agent can succeed. It is to understand how it behaves when it cannot.
Build beyond the prompt
Autonoma helps teams move from a simple agent idea to a structured workflow with tools, permissions, testing, and human review built in.
